Do you offer product design services?
We do not design products or parts, but we do help our clients improve their 2D and 3D drawings for better manufacturability, design compatibility and cost efficiency. This is part of our Design for Manufacturing reviews that we provide for all approved orders.
What kind of design files do you need for quoting?
We only accept 3D CAD files in STL, STEP or IGES format for giving an accurate and timely quote. We also need 2D drawings with reference dimensions in PDF format. We require complete manufacturing information as part of this technical documentation. We will not use any informal communication via SMS, Skype, email, etc., as valid for manufacturing purposes.
How fast can I get a quote?
We usually reply within 24 hours after receiving an RFQ. If the project needs more time to evaluate, we will let you know in advance.
Can I supply my own material for production?
Yes, you can use your own material if it is compatible with our machine capabilities.
How can I be sure that my design is protected?
We are willing to sign and follow any non-disclosure or confidentiality agreement (NDA). We also have a strict policy in our factory that no customer’s product can be photographed without express permission. We have a long-standing reputation of working with hundreds of thousands of unique designs and never disclosing any proprietary information to a third party.
How does your pricing compare to other suppliers?
It is hard to make direct comparisons, but our prices are typically 55-65% lower for plastic injection mold tools and CNC machined / turned parts than suppliers in North America and Europe.
Are the lead times in working days or calendar days?
The lead times are quoted in calendar days. As per our terms and conditions, the quoted lead times start only after we finish and confirm the design for manufacturing review and the actual production begins.
How soon can I receive my parts?
We can make quality parts in as little as 1 day. If you give us complete 2D and 3D CAD models. More complex parts or parts with other special features will take more time. Request a quote to get more precise lead times based on your project. For shipping, we mostly use air freight, which can take 3-7 days from China to Europe or North America.
What accuracy can Crown reach?
The accuracy of your parts will vary depending on several factors, such as: the dimensions of the part, the geometry and design of the part, the quantity and type of features on the part, the material selected, the surface finish applied the production method chosen. We will evaluate your design and provide you with a Design for Manufacturing feedback, recommending any modifications that might enhance the quality and efficiency of your parts. It would be useful if you can inform us which areas in your design have critical tolerances that we need to adhere to and which areas can be slightly altered if needed to save time and money. The tightest tolerance we can meet is +-0.005 mm.
How does Crown ensure the quality of my parts?
We will conduct a comprehensive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) review once you confirm your order, to detect any issues that might affect the quality of your parts. We check and verify all incoming materials with a range of testing equipment. We provide final inspection reports before shipping. We can share inspection data with you so we can work together to solve any quality issues you may have during production.
What type of surface finishes does Crown offer?
We have a wide range of finishing services to achieve any desired appearance and feel on your parts. Please look through our finishing services page for reference.
What are the transportation options?
We can offer all the main modes of transport in global trade, including international express (DHL, Fedex, UPS), sea freight, China-Europe freight train, truck.
What are the trade terms?
Usually we take EXW shipment from the factory as the standard, but the trade terms can also be discussed.
How about payment methods and conditions?
Bank transfer is recommended, and other payment methods can be discussed. Generally, we require customers to pay in full before the order starts, and we can negotiate after cooperation for a period including net 30.
Does your company have import and export rights?
We are registered with Chinese customs and can import and export goods directly without relying on a forwarding company.
